The Stone Host
The project was realized during quarantine. It is the first Ukrainian production to receive national film status from the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The stage production of the filmed performance was created by Ivan Uryvsky, while all filming was directed by Valentyn Kondratiuk, who aimed to convey the mood of the theatrical stage as authentically as possible on video. Additionally, 3D elements were incorporated into the production, allowing inanimate objects to come to life, while the living were made to appear lifeless. The play is based on a famous work by Lesia Ukrainka. Everyone desires happiness, but at what cost? The globally known life of the libertine Don Juan takes on a new, unexpected form. The acclaimed Ukrainian writer Lesia Ukrainka portrays the great seducer as a victim of the selfish Donna Anna, a woman who whimsically toys with him. But whose life principles will prove stronger? Find the answers in this dramatic performance, created in collaboration with Theatre “360 Degrees” and the Podil Theatre.
