A 21st century adaptation of the iconic classic ballet, Akram Khan’s “Giselle” has been receiving international acclaim ever since its world premiere in 2016. The Times termed it “visceral, feral and intense”; The Guardian regarded it as “a gift for English National Ballet”; the New York Times described it as “a beautiful and intelligent remaking”. The story of love, betrayal and redemption is reimagined in this modern take, with sets and costumes by Academy Awards winner Tim Yip and Vicenzo Lamagna’s gothic adaptation of the original score, performed by English National Ballet Philharmonic.
